WIOA Title II: Adult Education Family Literacy

The Workforce Innovations and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title II: Adult Education Family Literacy Act is a federally funded grant that has been awarded to San Diego College of Continuing Education (SDCCE) through a competitive grant application with the California Department of Education (CDE).

The purpose of the grant is to supplement SDCCE's Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE), English as a Second Language (ESL), and Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education/ IET Plan programs.

The goal of the grant is to enable adults to become more employable, productive, and responsible citizens. Through literacy support this adult education program assists SDCCE to offer free to low-cost classes for adults 18 and older. Through the grant students are offered services where they can get a high school diploma, general education diploma (GED), learn about jobs, learn to speak English, and learn how to become a U.S. citizen.

SDCCE has been the recipient of these grant funds for many years and typically is awarded funding on a three-year competitive procurement cycle with annual allocations determined by "pay points" based on performance based outcomes achieved as outlined in the grant.
