Dear SDCCE Community,

I am pleased to share exciting news about a significant investment in our college that will strengthen our ability to serve students, support employees, and advance our mission.

As part of the college's ongoing commitment to student success and institutional excellence, SDCCE has received approval for 11 new positions and an increase in our funding allocation. These investments reflect continued confidence in the important work taking place across our college and provide additional resources to help meet the needs of our growing programs and communities.

This investment also represents meaningful progress toward one of my longstanding goals as President: advancing greater funding equity for the College of Continuing Education. I am encouraged by this important step forward and remain committed to continuing this work.

The newly approved positions include:

Instructional Services Support Positions

  • 5.0 FTE Instructional Lab Technician (ILT) positions
  • 4.0 FTE Instructional Assistant (IA) positions
  • 1.0 FTE Program Support Technician (PST) for Healthcare
  • 1.0 FTE Testing Center Specialist

These positions will enhance instructional support and strengthen operational capacity across key program areas.

Vice Presidents and department leaders will work collaboratively within their respective divisions to advance these positions through the appropriate recruitment and hiring processes. While all positions have been approved, recruitment will occur in phases over the coming year to ensure thoughtful planning, coordination, and alignment with college priorities.

This investment represents more than additional staffing. It reflects SDCCE's continued commitment to providing high-quality educational opportunities, supporting employee success, and ensuring that our students have the resources they need to achieve their goals.

We look forward to sharing updates as these positions move forward and as we continue building the capacity needed to serve our community today and into the future.

Together, these positions represent an annual investment of approximately $1.26 million in salaries and benefits, demonstrating a significant commitment to strengthening instructional support and enhancing services for our students.

Thank you to each of you for the tremendous work you do and for your continued support. A special thank you to Chancellor Smith and Vice Chancellor Troy and his entire team for their leadership and support with the funding. I also extend my appreciation to the College Vice Presidents for their advocacy and working to identify the needs of the college on the instructional side. We are excited about this increased investment in our college personnel and budget and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our college community!

Best,
