The free event will feature live music, dance, poetry, and a Freedom in the Future presentation and is open to the public.

This Tuesday, San Diego College of Continuing Education (SDCCE) will celebrate a historic milestone as it confers 11,122 certificates and diplomas to adult learners from across San Diego County, the highest number in the institution’s history following the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2026 joint commencement ceremony with San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) will take place Tuesday, June 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Town and Country Resort in Mission Valley.

Today, the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program (Aspen) announced that Tina M. King, Ed.D, President at San Diego College of Continuing Education is one of 23 community college presidents selected to participate in the third cohort of the Aspen Presidents Fellowship, a unique year-long professional development experience supported by JPMorganChase. During the program, presidents will develop a reform agenda that helps more of their students graduate into good jobs, either directly after community college or following transfer and bachelor degree attainment.

The award was presented by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, organizer of San Diego’s annual tribute honoring the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
