Barrier Grants

A grant is a designated monetary amount or voucher exchangeable for specified goods or services, available (until resources are exhausted) to those who meet established eligibility requirements and apply for consideration. A grant is designed either to subsidize directly the achievement of an academic or professional goal; or to augment an applicant’s financial access to a program, service, educational or professional development opportunity, or other provision of support to overcome inequity and barriers to student success. Eligibility is certified by competent authority on review of relevant information that establishes financial hardship, as necessary; academic eligibility, including enrollment or program completion; and release of any negative service indicators which impact the student record as determined by the Office of Student Services.

In accordance with SDCCD Board Policy 3410 and SDCCE Foundation Board Policy 01-1920 (pend.), on Nondiscrimination, the Scholarship and Awards Program provides equal opportunity and access for all students. Students who are awarded scholarships will be recognized during the annual scholarship awards event.
