MEDIA ADVISORY: Vision 2030: A Call to Action - Adult Education Summit is being held in San Diego on Oct 5 & Oct 6
What: The California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office is proud to host state leaders, legislators, community college peers, and representatives from labor and industry in a two day summit exploring how legislative actions can open opportunities for adult learners. This event is co-hosted by San Diego College of Continuing Education and North Orange Continuing Education.
The California Community Colleges plays a critical role in developing innovative approaches to bolster socioeconomic mobility with equity. Vision 2030: A Call to Action - Adult Education Summit will provide participants with an opportunity to explore emerging strategies aimed at eliminating barriers that are keeping adult learners from reaching their career goals. Noncredit and credit community college workforce development initiatives, earn and learn models, and innovative adult support services will be highlighted.
Vision 2030 is a framework for bold and thoughtful action — action for policy reform, fiscal sustainability, systems development and for process and practice reform in the field — to support our students, our communities and our planet. The framework has been guided by the Vision for Success (2017), the governor’s “Multi-Year Roadmap” (2022) and current issues and future considerations.
Registration is now closed. An overwhelming amount of interest led to more than 300 people registering for the convening exploring emerging strategies aimed at eliminating systematic barriers that are keeping adult learners at noncredit and for-credit colleges from reaching their career and educational goals. Details about the summit and the live stream can be found on the summit website (sdcce.edu/call-to-action/).
