At no-cost, residents 18 and older can change careers or advance their skills with a diverse array of workforce training certificate programs, achieve a diploma, learn English, prepare for the U.S. citizenship exam, or enjoy personal enrichment. Enrollment is open now.

The College of Continuing Education offers career and college pathways within Automotive, Business and Accounting, Digital Media and Programming, Healthcare, Hospitality and Culinary Arts, Information Technology, as well as Skilled and Technical Trades. Other courses include High School Diploma/Equivalency, English as a Second Language (ESL), Citizenship, and Emeritus, a specialized program for older adults to maintain independence. Child Development and Clothing and Textiles will return in fall 2024.

Classes are taught online, in a hybrid format, and in person at seven campuses around San Diego located in Mountain View, Barrio Logan, Point Loma, Kearny Mesa, Fairmount, Mesa College and Miramar College. Students complete certificate programs within four to eight months and are ready to enter the workforce or can transition to City, Mesa, and Miramar Colleges.

A new Sound Design with Adobe Audition course will launch this summer, to teach students how to create and mix sound effects at the North City Campus. Returning this semester, high schoolers from the San Diego Unified School District can dual enroll in a Nurse Assistant certificate program at the college’s Cesar Chavez Campus. Graduates achieve their diploma and earn a CNA license without accruing tuition debt.

For those facing additional barriers beyond the cost of classes, the College of Continuing Education provides a free comprehensive basic needs program, SDCCE Cares, for access to mental health counseling, food, housing, and transportation resources. Nearly half of the more than 30,000 students served annually are made up of immigrants, refugees, and English language learners.
