Spring semester is underway at San Diego College of Continuing Education (SDCCE), offering San Diegans a direct pathway to in-demand careers. Students train in real-world settings from a welding yard and automotive garage to healthcare and fiber technology labs, all at no cost.
Classes began January 22, 2026, with open enrollment continuing for late-start courses. Within four to eight months, students can earn certificates in Automotive, Business, Accounting and Entrepreneurship, Child Development, Clothing and Textiles, Digital Media and Programming, Healthcare, Hospitality and Culinary Arts, Information Technology, and Skilled and Technical Trades. SDCCE also offers free English as a Second Language (ESL), Citizenship, and High School Diploma/Equivalency programs.
Classes are available both in person and online at seven locations across San Diego, including campuses in Mountain View, Barrio Logan, Point Loma, Kearny Mesa, and Fairmount, as well as at Mesa College and Miramar College.
“Spring semester represents a new beginning for so many in our community,” said SDCCE President Dr. Tina King. “We are eager to welcome students to our campuses and to provide them with opportunities and an academic journey that can change their lives and the lives of their families for generations to come.”
Many students come from immigrant and refugee backgrounds, are military veterans, or are returning to the classroom for the first time in years. To support student success, SDCCE provides comprehensive basic needs services through its ‘SDCCE Cares’ program. Enrolled students have access to a wide range of free resources, including food assistance, housing and transportation support, child care, health services, and mental wellness resources.
New this spring, SDCCE is introducing AI-focused business courses integrated into its Business, Accounting, and Entrepreneurship certificate programs. In addition, Clothing and Textiles students are preparing to represent the college in the national Textile Recovery Summit competition.
Meanwhile, the college’s historic Educational Cultural Complex, a long-standing hub for civil rights, arts, and education in Southeastern San Diego is undergoing a $65 million renovation, including $35 million in state grant funding.
