Local artists perform at San Diego Continuing Education to honor Black History MonthSan Diego Continuing Education (SDCE) invites the residents of Mountain View and surrounding communities to honor Black History Month. The live show, Black Migration, will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) theater. Admission is free and open to the public.

SDCE will welcome Keynote Speaker, Nate Howard, CEO of Movement BE and present the audience with spoken word, song and dance. Local artists include Junkyard Dance Troupe and African Drum and Dance Company who will perform a ceremonial Libation and Drum Call.

SDCE is the largest and longest-serving non credit institution in the nation. For more than 10 decades, SDCE has increased access to African-American communities guiding students toward higher education and career. ECC has been a symbol of community and African-American activism since its beginnings in 1972. The San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees adopted a historic resolution last year, which supports plans to request an official Civil Rights Landmark Designation of SDCE’s flagship campus.
