Continuing Education Welcomes Mid-City Communities to Día de los Muertos Fall Open House

October 25, 2018

Día de los Muertos

This Saturday, October 27, 2018, San Diego Continuing Education (SDCE) will host a Fall Open House. The event is free and open to the public and will honor Día de los Muertos. The academic fair is scheduled from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at SDCE’s Mid-City Campus (MCC), 3792 Fairmount Ave. San Diego, CA 92105.

SDCE will welcome prospective students and their families to experience the school's 70+ free short-term career training programs including Healthcare Careers, Small Business and Information Technology. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the campus and talk with SDCE faculty about completing their high school diploma, pathways to citizenship and free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.

SDCE is the adult education institution within the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD). Many adults start at SDCE and then transition to an SDCCD college, City, Mesa or Miramar.

SDCE will welcome prospective students for Fall Open House

“We are proud to welcome the Mid-City community and surrounding residents,” stated Carlos O. Turner Cortez, Ph.D., President of SDCE. “Completing a free career training program is one of the fastest paths for individuals with barriers to change the trajectory of their lives and the lives of their family.” SDCE students are often able to immediately qualify for entry-level jobs following the successful completion of an SDCE program.

SDCE’s Fall Open House aligns with SAY San Diego’s 11th Annual Día de los Muertos Festival in City Heights. The institution will present an educational altar at Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park located directly across MCC from 11:00am to 6:00pm on Saturday, November 2.

SDCE’s Educational Cultural Complex will host an annual Día de los Muertos celebration on November 1, 2018 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. As part of SDCE’s celebration, there will be an altar competition, photobooth, face painting and music. The flagship campus is located at 4343 Ocean View Blvd. San Diego, CA 92113.
