“Mr. Ron Runyan encouraged his students to refer to each other as technicians,” said Danielle Nadeau, a student in SDCCE's ICOM Academy. “This was an exercise that felt silly considering we hadn't learned anything yet. The constant reinforcement of a professional mindset gave me the confidence to actually call myself a technician.” After completing the Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) certificate, CompTIA N+ and A+ certifications, Danielle was offered employment with Bristol Myers Squibb, a Global Biopharmaceutical Company, as a full-time Systems Manager for Laboratory Operations. She now leads a team of technicians, “My colleagues have a desire to learn and build certain skill sets that we don’t necessarily have direct experience for here, so I refer them to take classes at SDCCE.”
