Dr. Kay Faulconer Boger Named Interim CEO/Executive Director at College of Continuing Education Foundation

July 27, 2023

Dr. Kay Faulconer BogerLongtime educator and decorated workforce development administrator Kay Faulconer Boger, Ed.D., has been named Interim CEO/Executive Director of the San Diego College of Continuing Education (SDCCE) Foundation.

As the Foundation’s Interim CEO/Executive Director, Dr. Boger will be in charge of operational oversight; expanding philanthropic giving; the Foundation’s marketing and branding; building an even more robust Employment Training Institute (ETi) program; assessing staffing needs at both ETi and the Foundation; strengthening both SDCCE and SDCCE Foundation infrastructure; and more.

“Our Foundation could not be in better hands,” said San Diego College of Continuing Education President Tina M. King, Ed.D. “Dr. Boger has more than 30 years of higher education and business consulting experience and is a champion of social justice and opening the doors of opportunity to all.”

Dr. Boger will be serving as Interim CEO/Executive Director until the conclusion of a national search for a permanent director.

The SDCCE Foundation supports our community’s most vulnerable students and is a recognized leader in breaking down barriers that have kept disempowered populations from accessing critical workforce training that leads to good-paying jobs. This year alone, the Foundation was responsible for granting more than $80,000 in awards and scholarships to deserving students whose education and career training may have been cut short if not for the financial assistance.

ETi and Gateway to College and Career are two of its signature programs. Eti partners with industry, nonprofits, and public entities in delivering skills-building programs for students to be competitive in the application of emerging technologies. ETi provides customized training for nonprofit organizations and public entities. Gateway to College and Career offers paid internships, connections to industry, assistance in securing a high school diploma or equivalency, and a college and career readiness course aimed at helping at-risk youth find viable pathways to a productive future.

The appointment is a homecoming of sorts. Before leaving SDCCE in September of 2023 to become the San Diego Community College District’s Chancellor’s Liaison for Community Engagement, Dr. Boger served as SDCCE’s interim president, acting vice president of instruction, and director of industry partnerships. Prior to her arrival at SDCCE, she was a dean at Ventura College, acting vice president of Instruction at Oxnard College, and the manager of America’s Job Centers.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to contribute once again to the San Diego College of Continuing Education’s mission, which is impacting the entire region,” said Dr. Boger, who noted the College’s workforce development programs alone contribute a quarter-billion dollars to the San Diego economy annually. “This truly is a special place to be.”

Dr. Boger stepped into her new role July 1.

Dr. Boger holds a doctorate in higher education and educational psychology from the University of Southern California, a master of business administration from Pepperdine University, a master of public communication from Pepperdine University, and a bachelor of arts in English from California State University, Northridge.
