San Diego College of Continuing Education and The San Diego Black American Policy Foundation to Offer $30,000 in Emergency Relief Aid to Residents of South 42nd Street

January 26, 2024

San Diego College of Continuing Education and The San Diego Black American Policy Foundation to Offer $30,000 in Emergency Relief Aid to Residents of South 42nd Street San Diego College of Continuing Education (SDCCE) and The San Diego Black American Policy Foundation (BAPACSD) received $30,000 from the Conrad Prebys Foundation to offer Emergency Relief Aid to residents of South 42nd Street.

This stems from the severe winter storm that generated historic rainfall, hazardous flooding and impacted the local Southeastern San Diego community. The Conrad Prebys Foundation immediately responded to BAPACSD’s clarion for help.

To notify residents of the available financial support SDCCE outreach teams will be visiting South 42nd Street homes beginning on Monday, January 29 to share about the available support and collect registration information.

Following community outreach efforts, SDCCE will return to resident homes on 42nd street on Saturday, February 3 to deliver items directly to residents.

“SDCCE was heavily impacted, and we want to ensure that we are here to support our community right here in Southeastern San Diego. This funding will allow us to support and deliver items to residents such as gift cards for transportation, food, and hotel vouchers, in addition to offering sanitation supplies, clothing, and other needed household materials,” said SDCCE President Dr. Tina M. King. “We are all hands-on deck to support our community and we are raising more funds to extend support to residents that were impacted beyond 42nd Street.”

Local outreach efforts will start next week, but residents of South 42nd Street are encouraged to register for their delivery ahead of time through the Community Support Registration Form: https://bit.ly/3UhDZzr

Those interested in supporting these efforts for the local communities in Southeastern San Diego should reach out and donate to bapacsd.org.
