SAN DIEGO – San Diego Continuing Education (SDCE) received notification today that the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC) has granted reaffirmation of its accreditation for a six-year term, ending June 30, 2023.

The reaffirmation is the highest level of accreditation recognition an institution can receive.

“The notification today was an affirmation that SDCE must continue to do more of the good work we’re already doing,” said Carlos O. Turner Cortez, Ph.D., President of SDCE.

For the past two years, an SDCE leadership team including faculty, staff, students and administrators conducted a Self-Study of the organization and prepared many reports for the accrediting commission and visiting team of reviewers.

SDCE has maintained consecutive and consistent accreditation since 1983, which is positive and significant to the institution’s more than 100-year-history.

“Congratulations to every faculty, administrator, staff and student who contributed to the successful reaffirmation of our accreditation,” said Dr. Turner Cortez. “The accreditation process outlines strengths and key issues identified through tremendous efforts that have standardized and centralized processes and procedures throughout SDCE, and have also created and measured accountability. The Visiting Committee recognized and applauded this work, and the affirmation from WASC is very comprehensive and overwhelmingly positive.”
