Spring Semester Begins January 31 at San Diego College of Continuing Education

No-Cost courses available in Culinary, Web Development, Behavioral Health, Cybersecurity at SDCCE.Enrollment is open now for the spring semester at San Diego College of Continuing Education (SDCCE), which begins Wednesday, January 31. Local residents 18 and older can change careers or advance their skills with tuition-free job training, achieve a high school diploma, learn English, or take free personal enrichment.

SDCCE offers nine career and college pathways including Automotive, Business and Accounting, Child Development, Clothing and Textiles, Digital Media and Programming, Healthcare, Hospitality and Culinary Arts, Information Technology, and Skilled and Technical Trades from Plumbing to Welding. Other courses include High School Diploma/Equivalency, English as a Second Language (ESL), Citizenship, and Emeritus, a specialized program for older adults to maintain independence.

The college boasts seven campuses around San Diego located in Mountain View, Barrio Logan, Point Loma, Kearny Mesa, Fairmount, at Mesa College and Miramar College. Classrooms mirror industry worksites such as an auto shop, a full-service kitchen, and a hospital for real world learning. Students complete certificate programs within four to eight months and are ready to enter the workforce or transition to City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges.

New at SDCCE, student welders take class on board the USS Midway to restore the historic  aircraft carrier. 

Returning this spring, high school students from the San Diego Unified School District can co-enroll in a Nurse Assistant certificate program at SDCCE. Graduates achieve their diploma and earn a CNA license at no-cost.

“Here at San Diego College of Continuing Education, students will find free, quality instruction, and robust wrap-around support services to meet their needs," said SDCCE President Dr. Tina M. King, who has rapidly expanded access to basic needs on campus for students, including food, housing, and transportation resources at all seven SDCCE campuses. 

SDCCE is the region’s leading provider of tuition-free workforce training — nearly half of the 20,000 students served annually is made up of immigrants, refugees, and English language learners.
