SDCE’s Holiday Greeting | Watch Video

San Diego, CA -- Today, San Diego Continuing Education (SDCE) releases an untraditional holiday greeting. The video clip gives a lighthearted glimpse into the diversity shared by many American colleges and noncredit schools.

SDCE’s annual enrollment of 44,000 is made up of students from 159 countries. SDCE students, faculty and staff speak over 20 languages in the holiday video including Tagalog, Albanian, Swahili and American Sign Language.

SDCE is rooted in serving the higher education needs of every immigrant, refugee and underserved population in California.

“I have students from Mexico, Honduras, Korea and Russia. Some of them are walking into a classroom for the first time in their lives. It’s not that this is their first English class, it could be that this is their first opportunity to get an education,” says Beth Bogage, SDCE faculty. “When I look at my students I admire them so much and respect the sacrifice they made to come to a new country to begin new life for themselves and their families.”

SDCE offers more than 60 free short-term certificate programs in popular areas such as Business, Automotive and Healthcare and thousands of free classes including Citizenship and English as a Second Language (ESL).

SDCE is the largest feeder school for the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) as many adults start at SDCE and transition to City, Mesa and Miramar College.
