Karl Cameron is a career counselor who has a background as a long-time community college counselor and career development professional with 10+ years of experience in higher education (outreach/counseling/advising) before his tenure with San Diego Continuing Education. Karl’s focus has been and continues to be helping students navigate through career and academic pathways with expertise in general, transfer, career counseling, college event programming, student development, and career assessments. The diversity of his professional experience has spanned the telecommunications, professional placement, account management, pharmaceutical, and academic sectors.

Karl earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from San Diego State University. He also earned a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Technology and Innovation from Walden University. Additionally, he earned a Master of Arts in Education in Counseling and Guidance with an emphasis in College Counseling and Student Development from Point Loma Nazarene University. Karl served as the San Diego Education Consortium president from March 2016 to Sept 2017. He was selected for the SDICCCA internship program in 2016 and completed his counseling program internship at San Diego City College in May 2017. Karl began his career with the San Diego Community College District at San Diego Miramar College as a career counselor. During that time, he also served as a career and general counselor at Grossmont Community College. Karl is a committed lifelong learner and mentor with a commitment to inspiring people to discover their gifts and talents. He believes that his role in academia is to create conditions to help students succeed.
