Provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to manage the Linux server operating system and includes practical and analytical skills needed to install, configure and ensure the operation of a Linux server. Instruction is in the Linux server environment and includes planning and installation of the appropriate operating system, configuration of server components, and troubleshooting common system errors. No prior Linux experience required.
Topics include managing file systems, server roles, network configurations, and the use of administrative commands. Learn command line processing; user accounts and permissions, and computer scripting.
Students who successfully complete the program can use the skills learned in a variety of industries and jobs including network and computer systems administrator, computer support specialist and computer operator. Also serves as a foundation for additional training in information technology.
