After becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant, if you wish to receive certification as a Home Health Aide, you may complete an additional 50 hours of training that includes lecture and skills practice. You will learn:
- Aide and agency role
- Medical and social needs of patients
- Personal care services
- Nutrition
- Cleaning and care of homes
You will be trained to help elderly, convalescent, or disabled persons. Home Health Aides are in high demand from licensed home care agencies and hospice agencies to provide basic nursing care in private homes and health facilities or hospice programs under the supervision of Registered Nurses. Students can earn up to 26 CEUs upon successful completion of the class.
Eligibility
Students must have a current California Nursing Assistant (CNA) license (or have passed both parts of the state licensing exam) to be eligible to attend classes for the Home Health Aide program.

Forms are reviewed for accuracy and completeness on a first-come, first-served basis. Provisional acceptance into the class is given when forms are approved and accepted. Please note that student parking permits are required for the Cesar E. Chavez campus parking lots.
