New Horizons

The New Horizons/Gender Equity Program helps vocational students who are low income and considered to be special population.

The direct services include book loans and transportation assistance. The program also published a Study Guide to help program participants balance the additional pressures and time requirements of school on top of work and family obligations. The guide covers study skills, motivation, memory, time management, note taking, test taking and basic English grammar and Math. The guide is filled with valuable hints from authors, teachers, counselors and other persons knowledgeable about these topics. There are also tips from successful single parent students.

New Horizons/Gender Equity also publishes a Resource Guide listing campus and community agencies to assist students with specific needs. These can include but not limited to legal, child care, health, housing and employment.

Program participants are also given the "One Stop Student Academic Planner" to assist them with organizational skills necessary for academic success.
