President's 2017 Innovation Grant Award Winners Announced

Dear Colleagues,
 
Thank you for your patience to learn the award winners of this year's President’s Innovation Grants. As you know, the grants are available to faculty and staff (as individuals or teams) who complete in an application process to identify, develop and implement innovative activities in support of SDCE’s 2016-2021 Strategic Goals. A committee comprised of faculty and classified employees reviews applications and determines the awardees.
 
I’m especially pleased to announce the 2016-17 Grants will be awarded as follows:
 
Open House Days
Edith Quintero, Sany Ramirez and Denise Munoz
Two open house events including resource fairs, presentations and tours will target graduating high school students to help them become familiar with SDCE services. 
 
Incorporating Entrepreneurial Thinking into Vocational Curriculum
Aaron Iffland, Matthew Rivaldi
A faculty workshop on incorporating entrepreneurial thinking into curriculum at SDCE.
 
Technology for English Language Learner Digital Literacy
Eric Miller, Ingrid Greenberg
Enhance the ability of SDCE ESL faculty to integrate language instruction with hands-on application of new technologies and tools for immigrant populations lacking these skills.
 
Operation Outreach 
Alberto Vasquez, Michele Madrid Novak
Promotional items will be distributed to faculty and staff to bolster internal morale and cultural.
 
Community Graduation Celebration
Alberto Vasquez
An event to provide in-reach to our current student population and outreach to the community at large.
 
This second year of the President’s Innovation Grants resulted in even more applications than 2015-16. Thank you to everyone who took the time and initiative to submit innovative ideas that help SDCE build on our success!
