I have been a teacher for over 30 years, but have only been a published writer since January 2011. That is why I am excited and proud to share that I own three second place awards and one third place award at the San Diego Press Club's Excellence in Journalism Awards. I won second place for my article on "Herbert Siguenza-Melding Cultures" [Entertainment Reporting- La Prensa], "An English Teacher's Perspective on How Immigrants Enrich This Country" [ Essay/ Commentary/ Opinion- Times of San Diego], "Good for the Soul- Community Gardens" [ Gardening- Edible Magazine], and third place for "The Plight of Adjunct Teachers" [ Education- Diario Judio].
