Zoom Meeting ID: 879 307 54411, Passcode 765588

The San Diego College of Continuing Education celebrates Black History Month with an event highlighting the rich history and life of African American arts and artisans. Makeda Dread Cheatom, Executive Director, along with members of the WorldBeat Center, will present the story of the African Diaspora. This includes connections between Afro-Mexican, Haitian cultures, and their influence on the African American experience, featuring drumming and other performances.

The WorldBeat Cultural Center, founded by Makeda Dread Cheatom in 1993, became a key multicultural art and event center in San Diego after revitalizing an abandoned water tower in Balboa Park. The center is now adorned with colorful murals, art galleries, and peaceful gardens.
