Cisco is training Students for Careers

by Don Aragon

The Cisco Networking Academy at San Diego Continuing Education has trained many students for careers as Network Engineers, Network Administrators and IT related professions. Last year nine students were selected as Dream Team members and participated at Cisco Live, Cisco's annual technology conference, by setting up all the wireless access points for 25,000 attendees at the San Diego Convention Center.

Networking Academy at San Diego Continuing Education graduate Lyazzat Segizbayeva (after participating on the Dream Team in San Diego) was selected to attend Cisco Skillzone pilot; a multi vendor training for the Internet-of-Things. Companies that supported Skillzone training included Cisco, IBM and HP. Further she was featured on Cisco TV speaking to Network Academy students in Asia about Big Data.

Lyazzat's hard work and experience within the Networking Academy at San Diego Continuing Education prepared her to successfully graduate from the Cisco Skillzone. Lyazzat's story highlights the dedication to quality instruction and training, outstanding hardware labs, and the benefits of public-private partnerships. SDCE ESL to Cisco Expert

Lyazzat Segizbayeva (pictured in the front row) is celebrating her recent success with Cisco, and so is SDCE!

Lyazzat first enrolled in ESL classes at SDCE, and then began taking classes in the Office Skills Computer Labs. Her success in the computer lab classes encouraged her to take on even more computer education in SDCE’s Cisco networking program, which positioned her well for her next opportunity: being chosen for the dream team at last year’s annual Cisco conference. Lyazzat  was selected for and completed the Cisco SkillZone program in the Bay Area and was featured in a Cisco television broadcast as a subject matter expert speaking to Network Academy students in Asia about big data.
