Continuing Education Day at Miramar College

Context:

Continuing Education provides a great deal of students to the college campuses each year and thus an area that could benefit from tailored outreach services.  The program served as a first step in further developing connections between our non-credit and credit programs.  This was an internal outreach or “in-reach” effort within our District to determine some of the basic needs that this particular population may have.   Miramar led the development and coordination of the event with promotional support from CE Counseling, CE Outreach, CE Student Equity/Student Services as well as Miramar Career Services, Transfer Center.  Miramar College General Counseling provided the CE to College presentation.  This event served to further connect with our non-credit students and to provide the knowledge and resources for a better transition to credit courses.

Purpose:

Increase exposure of Miramar College for our CE students and to provide information to prospective students and/or students that will be pursuing additional education at our campus

Target Population:

CE Students from throughout the District (majority from North City) CE campuses

Total attendance:

117, including Instructional and Counseling faculty from CE

Bonus:

NCC graphics students also had an in depth tour of the graphics lab at Miramar and were able to connect with the department lead
