Teachable moments occur in a variety of places and that’s certainly true with the parent education program. Each semester, outdoor classes are held in a variety of locations including public parks, farms, creeks and canyons. Students learn the principles of positive parenting while developing a greater sense of ecological awareness. According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children, outdoor exploration builds strong immune systems, promotes creativity, reduces stress, and increases self-esteem (2014). Thinking beyond the traditional classroom model is one of the ways the program strives to meet the holistic learning needs of students and their children. Parent education classes
