Passport to Success March 2019

Submitted by Roma Weaver

Passport to Success met at Mid City Campus this March for a workshop on Inclusion. Maureen Rubalcaba complete with broken knee and cast presented a fascinating presentation on Student Equity and how we at SDCE are attempting to provide all our students an equal opportunity for success. John Bromma helped us understand the services provided by DSPS and a humorous but effective guide to what is included in the service animal program. He also explained how DSPS counselors can help in and outside the classroom with information and support. Stephanie Crosby our new DSPS Dean was introduced to the group and informed the group about several opinions that are now in the courts , she is following  these to make sure we remain in compliance with the new laws. She also shared about her work with 3100 and what is required by faculty and staff to insure a safe environment for all students. Veleka Iwuabe and Mark Brewington encouraged our participants to join the FELI class April 15 thru the 19th and told stories about what a difference it had made in their lives. Our next Passport will be at CE Mesa  Room 118-120 on April 5th from 1 to 3 and the topic will be Institutional Involvement.
