Remembering Hal Jellison, a long-time Emeritus Program Instructor

SDCE Emeritus Program retired instructor Hal Jellison passed away recently. Hal taught music and also one of SDCE's eldest music instructors, Norm Telleson.

Dr. Harold M. Hal' Jellison January 13, 1926 - June 4, 2016 San Diego Hal was born in Cambridge, MA. At age 17 he joined the Marine Corps. He served honorably in WII, Korea and Vietnam and was rewarded numerous medals and the Bronze Star. After 26 years of service, he retired as Major and started a lifelong career of teaching and music. He taught piano and musical experience for continuing education at San Diego Community College, had his own band and played with numerous bands all over the county. He will be dearly missed by Heidi, his wife of 32 years, his family, friends, fellow musicians and students. He was laid to rest with military honors at Miramar National Cemetery. A celebration of Hal's life will be held on Saturday, July 16, from noon to 4:oo p.m. at the Musicians Union Hall on 1717 Morena Blvd. Lunch will be served. Please rsvp at 619-276-8291.
