SDCE Participates in Tutor Expo at City College

by Ingrid Greenberg, Professor and Coordinator for the Continuing Education Student Equity ESL Writing Tutoring

On March 11-12, students, tutors, faculty, staff and vendors participated in the sold-out Tutor Expo organized by 3CSN at City College. With topics ranging from student success to learning communities to accreditation requirements, tutors and coordinators presented best practices for instruction, professional development, budget, personnel, and policy development.

SDCCD presenters included Daphne Figueroa, Coordinator & Professor, Miramar College, and Mary Graham, Coordinator and professor at Cuyamaca College and Board of Trustee member, SDCCD.

One of the most innovative tutoring practices discussed was synchronous online tutoring used as a supplement to face-to-face tutoring. If the students’ college is a member of a consortium, they can take advantage of synchronous online tutoring which is available up to 50 weeks a year, seven days a week.  For more information, please see: www.ccconlineEd.org
