In spring 2016 SDCE launched the Small Business Planning Program at the Cesar E Chavez Campus in the heart of Barrio Logan. Over 100 entrepreneurs from all over the county attended the free entrepreneurship program to gain knowledge and skills to turn their small business idea into reality.

A Capstone project event in June featured 40 students pitching their business concepts in an ‘open market’ type atmosphere to showcase their business concepts. Community partners such as San Diego Business Development Center, ACCION San Diego, LISC, Ryan Bros Coffee, Knockaround Sunglasses, Iron Fist Brewery, and others contributed to the event by sponsoring mentoring and business support for students to progress from the classroom to running their own business.
