Hello Faculty, Staff, and Union Representatives,
As many of you know, I have had a wonderful thirty-five year career as a professor, 10+ years as department chair, and as an AFT union representative with our District and tomorrow is my last day of work. I want to thank each and every person that I have had the pleasure and honor to work with. My retirement party at the La Jolla Shores Hotel was a lovely event with almost 100 of my family, friends, and colleagues in attendance. It was outstanding in every way: attendees were from all walks of my life, a venue overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean, and very tasty food with an excellent dessert. My retirement committee did an outstanding job in every respect. I am very appreciative and thankful to: Corinne Layton, Magdalena Kwiatkowski, Ann Marie Holtzknecht, Maria Allan, Wendy Liao, Mary LeDuc, and Karen King. It was such a joyous and memorable night. I will have these fond memories for a lifetime and that is one of the greatest gifts I could ever have been given. I have attached a few photos from the party.
I hope that all of you continue to find meaning in the important work that you do on behalf of our students and know that your efforts mean much to the students and communities we serve. I want to wish each of you good health, a wise balance of life and work, and a sense of humor that keeps you grounded and smiling. I wish you and your family the very best!
