Dear SDCCE Community,
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a restful and joyful holiday season, and that you’re feeling refreshed and ready to start the new year with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
As we embark on 2025, I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to our students and the mission of SDCCE. The impact you make in our community is immeasurable, and I look forward to all the amazing things we will accomplish together this year.
January 1 marked more than a new year; it also was a time to celebrate Haitian Independence Day, and all of us at the College of Continuing Education send our love and support to our growing Haitian student community in recognition of this historical event. Everyone belongs at SDCCE and it's because of your love and compassion that our students are successful. Let's embrace the new year with unity, positivity, and excitement as we move forward together!

Right before the Winter Break, our Basic Needs program held their CARES winter giveaway on December 12 and December 13.
In partnership with the San Diego Food Bank, we received 128, $50 grocery gift cards. The CARES program provided an additional 22 cards, to be able to provide 150 CARES students with a $50 grocery card and winter items, including blankets, hoodies, personal hygiene bags, reusable water bottles, and food items.
A HUGE thank you to the SDCCD Chancellor's Office and SDCCE's Professional Development Office for their generous donations of winter supplies that the department could use for its distribution.

We wrapped up 2024 on a high note as one of the top institutions best preparing students for jobs in computing, engineering, and business highlighted by San Diego Regional EDC!
Our business program earned a three-year verification status through a rigorous evaluation process led by Advancing San Diego, the flagship program of EDC’s Talent Initiatives, which serves to double the production of skilled workers in San Diego while prioritizing historically underrepresented populations in the innovation economy.
A heartfelt thank you to the Emeritus program for hosting a successful holiday concert.
The community came together for the Annual Emeritus Holiday Concert at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library. The event showcased the talents of faculty and students from the piano and guitar classes, spreading holiday cheer to all.

President's Updates
contributions to the college, leading SDCCE as interim VPI.

I enjoyed attending the SDCCD Hail and Farewell event to honor our newly-elected and retiring Board of Trustees. It was a meaningful moment to reflect on Trustee Rhinerson and Trustee Graham's contributions and to look forward to an exciting new chapter for the district with Trustee Jameson and Trustee Magaña.

It was wonderful to host the 5th SD Advance ("SDA") Symposium to support pathways from noncredit to credit courses for our students. As we work throughout the district to facilitate a seamless transition for students, this symposium placed emphasis on the student services component to enhance these pathways.
