Dear SDCCE Community,

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family of Tyre Nichols and for the long-standing trauma and fear this act of violence causes for Black and minority populations. The newly released video footage is hard to watch and hearts are heavy and weeping.

The death of Tyre Nichols is a critical call for unity and healing. Thank you for providing an inclusive and safe place at SDCCE for each student, employee, and community member to feel welcome. SDCCE is a safe place for people to work and students to learn.

Please remind your students that there are services and resources available at SDCCE to provide them with emotional and social supports beyond the classroom.

SDCCE will hold a wellness circle and one on one support through our mental health practitioner.
