Dear SDCCE Community,

Happy first day of the 2023 summer session! We are honored that our students have chosen us to further advance their learning and career potential. As new and returning students attend SDCCE in person and online, please remind them we have wraparound services to fit their unique needs to ensure success beyond the classroom. Thank you for making every student feel welcome and safe. I look forward to visiting your class this summer and hearing all of the wonderful initiatives our college is accomplishing together.

The San Diego College of Continuing Education on June 7 honored more than 400 students at our joint commencement ceremony with San Diego Unified School District. We conferred a record-breaking 10,537 diplomas and certificates for adult learners. I am still on cloud 9 from this monumental event. Times of San Diego featured SDCCE’s commencement ceremony here. I am pleased to share that our graduates can download their commencement photos for free. Please share the photo album with your students, and encourage them to post on social media using #SDCCEGrad

The Research Corner

This week, we invite you to check out the first release of the SDCCE Institutional Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) report. This report includes three years of data for SLO assessment results (2020/21 through 2022/23). Take a minute to review this resource and email if you have any questions.

The PRIE Office recently promoted Jesus Rivas to Associate Dean of Research, Planning, and Innovation. As the Associate Dean, Jesus will provide leadership for the research agenda at the college and for the annual program review, strategic planning, and outcomes assessment that fosters institutional growth and development through a lens of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Anti-racism, and Accessibility. He will provide supervision to PRIE’s research staff and work with faculty and managers to develop large-scale research and planning projects and initiatives.

For the second year, we are launching the SDCCE Administrative Unit Feedback Survey. The Program Review Committee is sponsoring this employee survey to collect information regarding department awareness, interactions, and satisfaction. If you have not done so, please complete this brief, 3 to 5-minute survey to inform administrative units’ program review, strategic planning, and future departmental improvements. This survey is anonymous and applicable to all SDCCE employees (NANCE, Classified, Supervisory, Faculty, and Administrators). Survey Link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TT9KD8P.
