Campus Ready - SDCCE Reopening Taskforce

Dear Colleagues,

During my first weeks as President, I have heard questions from both employees and from students about how SDCCE campuses will reopen safely for fall 2022. In response, I have developed a Reopening Taskforce to assist in the reopening and recovery from the pandemic in a way that is consistent with the COVID-19 protocols set by the District, SDCCE's strategic plan goals, and our Vision for Success.

The Reopening Taskforce has full representation from across our college units and departments, including participants from administrative departments, academic, classified, and student senates, and our campuses.

The District has outlined several fall protocols (e.g. booster dose requirements, eligibility, and exemptions), which the Reopening Taskforce will recognize. The Taskforce will also be asked to consider the unique and specific needs of SDCCE students, our employees, and our community. The end goal will be to distribute printed and digital communication (e.g. a landing page dedicated to critical materials the Reopening Taskforce develops), including extensive FAQs, that will help our employees and our students, understand SDCCE's Reopening Plan for fall 2022.

The initial meeting will be held tomorrow, Friday, July 15 with the purpose of beginning the process to determine how SDCCE considers several data sources (e.g. student needs; daily traffic reports; student vaccination requirements; virtual student center, etc.) to plan effectively and strategically for a successful reopening. The Reopening Taskforce will continue to meet and work throughout the upcoming fall and spring semesters as needed. If you have questions or need more information, please contact the President's Office at sdccepresident@sdccd.edu.
