Dear Colleagues,

San Diego College of Continuing Education (SDCCE) looks forward to participating in the 2022 Black Diaspora Summit at Ghana. Five employees have been selected to attend the summit: Stephanie Lewis, Jacqueline Hester, Lorie Crosby Howell, Roberta Krauss, Marne Foster, and Esther Anthony-Thomas. This contingent includes representation from administrators, faculty, and classified professionals. Those who attend will learn tools and skills that will support the development of SDCCE's Black Student Success Program and, upon return, will be expected to share information that supports the professional learning of SDCCE employees. Specifically, SDCCE's participation will enhance the capacity to support immigrant students from Africa, and specifically Ghana; increase enrollment of refugee and immigrant students, and help build partnerships with other colleges to support successful transitions for students.

The first of seven SDCCE Summer Explorations Days will take place this Saturday, July 23, at West City Campus (WCC). The WCC Exploration Day will highlight the Culinary and Clothing and Textile program. Be Well CE Program will convene its first ever Think it Through Thursday forum. This is a space for employees to decompress, destress, and refuel with helpful psycho-educational workshops.

SDCCE will be transitioning to Microsoft Office 365, beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 25.

As a reminder, Coffee and Chat sessions are being held at each SDCCE campus. This is an opportunity for me to meet many of our students, faculty, and classified professionals directly, and to share information about campus-specific events and opportunities. This week I was at North City Campus and met the strong team there supporting students and each other. The remaining schedule for the Coffee and Chat sessions:

      8/1 MCC 10:00 a.m.
      8/3 CE MESA 9:00 a.m.
      8/4 Chavez 11:00 a.m.
      8/19 WCC 9:00 a.m.

Best,
