Dear San Diego College of Continuing Education,
SDCCE continues its series of open house events, SDCCE Summer Explorations Days. West City Campus held a successful open house community event that brought together both our internal and external communities. Mid-City Campus’s event was held Wednesday, July 27, offering both day and evening sessions. The space was filled with many of our students and community members. Thank you to all of the employees who supported such a beautiful event! The next Exploration Day will be held at Cesar Chavez Campus this Saturday, July 30, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Dean Stephanie Lewis was selected to present at the Council for Opportunity in Education Annual Conference in September. Her presentation is titled Building a New Tradition: Designing services to support “non-traditional” student needs. The Dana Foundation in collaboration with the Lucky Duck Foundation has awarded SDCCE an additional $150,000 to support the SDCCE Pathway Program, which provides wrap-around support and case management for students facing homelessness.
As a reminder, Coffee and Chat sessions continue to be held at each SDCCE campus. This is an opportunity for me to meet many of our students, faculty, and classified professionals directly, and to share information about campus-specific events and opportunities. I have enjoyed bonding with each of you and learning about your personally and professionally.
The remaining schedule for the Coffee and Chat sessions:
- 8/1 MCC 10:00 a.m.
- 8/3 CE Mesa 9:00 a.m.
- 8/4 Chavez 11:00 a.m.
- 8/19 WCC 9:00 a.m.
In closing, it is with both happiness and sadness I share the news that Giovanni "Gio" Garcia, Executive Assistant to the President, will end his service in this role on August 5, 2022. Gio has been a wonderful support to me as I have onboarded into the Presidency position, and he is a true professional. His decision to work toward a Master's degree full-time is important for himself and his family. While I am so happy for him to pursue his education, his expertise and kindness will be greatly missed. Please join us Thursday, August 4, 4-5:30 p.m. in the Professional Development Center (Conference Room 106) at the Educational Cultural Complex Campus as we celebrate Gio and wish him the very best as he continues his education and his career.
Best,
