SDCCE's Fall 2022 Convocation. Centering Culture and Community to Strengthen our Tapestry. The Future is Bright

Dear SDCCE Community,

We're officially counting down to our fall Convocation with only two weeks until we will be in person at the Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) to celebrate our faculty, our classified professionals, our administrators, and our students during day one of our Convocation. I'm especially looking forward to meeting those of you whom I've not yet had the opportunity to meet over the past several weeks.

The first day of Convocation on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, will take place at ECC in the theatre, with additional monitors and seating set up in the foyer area near the box office.

Dr. Tina King talking

We will hear special welcoming remarks from SDCCD Chancellor Cortez, the SDCCD Board of Trustees, our Senate leaders and Student Trustee, among others. We also have several presentations prepared for you from various areas of our organization. You will also hear from me, the Vice Presidents, and the Executive Director of SDCCE's Foundation, plus we have a couple of surprise performances planned for our event.

Please be certain to RSVP and plan to attend.

Current Schedule for August 31, 2022

  • 8:30 to 9 a.m. - Arrive, check-in, continental breakfast, and connect with colleagues
  • 9 to 11:30 a.m. - Presentations in the theatre
  • 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Luncheon and connect with colleagues
  • 1 to 2 p.m. - Classified professionals group professional development
  • 1 to 4 p.m. - Program meetings led by deans and administrators

As a reminder, everyone in our college is encouraged to attend because we share in the energy that connects us during this annual event. This year, as a trial, SDCCE campuses will observe an inclusive professional development and will be closed on August 31, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. We will assess any impacts that will help us make decisions for future years.

Remember to RSVP today for Day One of Convocation on August 31, 2022. Attendees will receive a symbolic-themed t-shirt and many professional development tools will be shared. Please support our fall convocation with your enthusiasm and download and use these various digital elements to share your excitement:

I look forward to seeing you soon!

Best,
