President's Updates

I recently sat down with KUSI News to talk about our exciting new partnership with the California Coast Credit Union which is bringing mannequins in a variety of skin tones to our healthcare programs, addressing a long-standing gap in the healthcare field and offering a more reflective and relatable training experience. California Coast Credit Union currently partners with SDCCE through scholarships and financial wellness workshops. We're working to enhance this collaboration with a new financial wellness center on SDCCE campuses to provide essential resources for students to manage their finances effectively.

After an inspiring three days of retreats, our Executive President's Cabinet has set ambitious goals for the 2024-25 year! I come away from these retreats with so much pride in our student-centric and community-focused leadership team and reinvigorated by our meaningful discussions on culture change and service enhancement over the next year. Between our time at the VEBA Resource Center and ending with over 50 dedicated leaders at the beautiful S&S Friendly Ranch, we fostered collaboration and connection while making strides towards a stronger, more inclusive future for our students and college. So grateful for our journey and excited for what lies ahead!

The Research Corner

This week, we invite you to check the report: Building Equitable Pathways to Careers: A toolkit inspired by a California Community Colleges community of practice. The report from Foundation for California Community Colleges shows how to use a toolkit that provides a design process called the Equitable Pathways to Careers Design Process. This process is a template for creating educational pathways integrating high-value credentials, ranging from noncredit certificates to degrees. These pathways also incorporate culturally sustaining support systems. Please take a minute to review this resource and email if you have any questions.
