Dear SDCCE Community,

I had the opportunity to deliver congratulatory remarks to our amazing CNA students at César E. Chávez Campus and myself and the VPs visited every SDCCE campus for a fun Halloween pop-up. Please join me this November for our annual Día de Los Muertos and Veterans Day celebrations!

Enrollment Updates

Enrollment continues to be strong for the fall semester. SDCCE’s overall enrollment stands at 25,271 (16% greater than this time last year), with a fill rate of 81%, which is greater than last fall (74%). SDCCE’s overall headcount is currently 13,422, an increase of 30% compared to this time last fall (10,326). FTEF scheduled for the fall semester are 10% higher than last fall (172.0 to 156.8). Enrollment management efforts continue, with a remaining 20% of scheduled sections starting 10/25/2022 or later (152 out of 760).

Campus Ready

Campus Updates

  • SDCCE’s Clothing and Textiles Dean Dr. Lorie Crosby-Howell and Program Chair Shirley Pierson were the guests of Kornit Digital at the Printing United Expo in Las Vegas. They experienced how the latest equipment can be used across disciplines at SDCCE, from the innovations in textile manipulation, cutting, digital direct to garment and direct to fabric printing.
  • San Diego City College students were invited to experience SDCCE’s Cesar Chavez Campus Healthcare lab with acute care students to run patient simulations - this partnership strengthens the bridge between SDCCE and City College’s nursing degree program.
  • SDCCE’s President Cabinet in collaboration with the faculty and classified staff of the Strategic Enrollment Management Student Onboarding Taskforce unanimously decided to transition to the CCCApply Noncredit application Platform. This change will be launched in fall 2023, along with other critical systems changes will streamline the enrollment process for SDCCE students.
  • people standing in front of an auto baySubaru made a generous donation to SDCCE’s Automotive certificate programs at the Educational Cultural Complex. The donations include a 2019 Subaru valued at roughly 28,000 dollars before tax, 2022 Subaru valued at roughly 38,000 dollars before tax and a factory Subaru tool to work on these vehicles valued at roughly 7,000 dollars.
  • SDCCE’s Hospitality and Culinary Arts department tabled with 200 small plated dishes at the San Diego Press Journalism Awards. SDCCE’s Career Services hosted a culinary employer spotlight and Hiring Event at the Educational Cultural Complex.
  • SDCCE is transitioning from student attendance cards to issuing SDCCD student IDs beginning spring semester, which will support students in their transition to a district college and allow them more access to public transportation and student discounts. More information to come.
  • Eligible students can apply for SDCCE's State Emergency Aid Grants to support financial needs up to $500 dollars.

  • CE Mesa - Thursday, November 3rd from 12 pm - 2 pm, Room 2
  • North City - Wednesday, November 2nd from 12 pm - 2pm, Room 111
  • West City - Tuesday, November 1st from 12 pm - 2 pm, Room 127

Virtual Workshops

  • On 11/3 SDCCE will welcome Teatro Izcalli to celebrate Día De Los Muertos at the ECC Foyer from 11:30am-12:30pm. Come learn about the meanings of Día De Los Muertos, and the symbols, stories and ritual of creating an altar. The celebration is free and open to the public, invite your family and friends to join us! Social media assets are available for download here.
  • On 11/ 9 SDCCE will host a reception and recognition of Veteran Students "Honoring all Who Served" at the Educational Cultural Complex from 1:30pm - 2:30pm.
