Dear SDCCE Community,

Please read this important update regarding our Emeritus Ceramics classroom locations for the upcoming Spring 2025 semester. While some classes starting in Spring 2025 will be relocated due to the ECC theatre renovations the Emeritus Ceramics classes will remain at the Educational Cultural Complex in its current location but will move to a new room later. We will keep you informed as updates continue to occur. In the meantime, note the current Emeritus ceramics classes will not be moving and will stay in its current classroom.

While construction takes place, classrooms near the theatre will be impacted due to the nature of this project. With support of the faculty, ceramics will go down to a reduced capacity of 40 total students for spacing. There will be loud noise due to the ongoing construction. Everyone must enter through the outside gate as there will be no access from the main entrance. Restrooms near the ceramics classroom will not be open, students and employees can access the restrooms located near Student Services in the main lobby.

On November 21, a major piece of equipment for the electrical switchgear replacement will be delivered. This will need to be stored in the ceramics outdoor patio, but we will make sure there is still access to the gas kiln and storage.

Beginning December 1, 2024, the fence between Ceramics and the Childcare Center will be removed. Construction workers will regularly pass through the Childcare Center, and equipment staging will begin in the ceramics patio area in preparation for the switchgear replacement.

Additionally, there will be a virtual theatre renovation town hall meeting on Tuesday, November 12, from 3 to 4 p.m. via this link on Zoom. I encourage everyone who is able to attend to do so, this will help you stay best informed about the theatre remodel and campus impact. Our priority remains the accessibility and safety for all students. Thank you for your continued support during this exciting time as we get ready to welcome a brand new ECC theatre.

Best,
