Welcome back from Thanksgiving break! December 4th marks SDCCE's Spring 2024 semester Enrollment Date. All Spring 2024 Term Activated students will be able to enroll in classes on or after December 4. Classes will be open for enrollment without requiring the student to have a permission number for all programs except: ABE/HSE, DSPS, ESL, Healthcare, and HSDP (more detailed info to follow). There are many changes this year for admissions and enrollment and we thank you for your patience as we work diligently to improve our systems. Enrollment Updates

SDCCE’s overall enrollment for fall stands at 29,836 (13% greater than this time last year and a 0.1% decrease from last week), with a fill rate of 72%. SDCCE’s overall headcount is currently 15,792, an increase of 14% compared to last fall (13,887) and a 0.1% decrease from last week (15,807). FTEF scheduled for the fall semester is 9% higher than last fall (188.91 to 172.83). Enrollment management efforts continue, with 11% of scheduled sections starting 11/28/2023 or later (106 out of 940). View report here.

Welding studentI am proud to announce, SDCCE has secured a $1.175 million grant from BlueForge Alliance, a Texas-based nonprofit to double the size of its award-winning welding program and expand program facilities as part of a comprehensive effort addressing a shortage of skilled welders.

SDCCE will be holding a news conference and check-presentation ceremony with BlueForge Alliance on Friday, December 8, at 9 a.m. at SDCCE’s Educational Cultural Complex, 4343 Ocean View Blvd. Learn More in SDCCE's News Room.

Three public forums will be held this week for each of the finalists for SDCCD Chancellor from Nov. 27 through Nov. 29. We invite and encourage everyone to participate in the public forums. There will be a brief introduction of the candidate followed by a question-and-answer session. Please submit your questions to: . All who participate will be asked to complete a feedback form which will be collected via an online survey. The online survey link will be emailed districtwide and posted on the District’s Chancellor Search webpage the morning of each candidate’s public forums. Each survey will close 24 hours after each candidate’s forum, so plan to complete the online survey right away. Completed online feedback forms will be given to the Board of Trustees for their review.

The forums will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Room 235 at the District’s administrative offices in Mission Valley and webcast live both on Zoom and the SDCCD Board of Trustees YouTube channel (youtube.com/@SDCCDTrustees/streams).

Certified Electrician and SDCCE student, Jeniffer Mendiola, is paving the way to bring more women into apprenticeships by way of the San Diego Workforce Partnership.

"The environment within the apprenticeship program is different from any I’ve experienced before. It is welcoming, and negative work attitudes are not tolerated. It was heartwarming to see all SDCCE departments including Headquarters and Facilities celebrate Thanksgiving together across our college. We truly are a family at SDCCE and I am grateful for each of you.

SDCCE is proud to participate in the California Coast Credit Union and the San Diego Food Bank 5th Annual Pack the Pantry Food Drive.

SDCCE's Emeritus program will host the 2023 Winter Concert on Sunday, December 10 at 3 p.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church (4761 Cass St. San Diego, 92019).

SDCCE’s Emeritus Holiday Recital 2023 with Professor Helena Wei will take place on Wednesday, December 13 at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library from 12 to 2:30 p.m.

The District Office Professional Development Department is hosting Compassion It Training. Compassion It is a group of Stanford University-trained compassion facilitators who will instruct participants in the benefits and practice of mindfulness meditation.

Classified Professionals may sign-up for their choice of workshop with approval from their Supervisor. FLEX credit is available.
