My name is Mowlid Mohamed. I was born in Somalia and grew up in Kenya. My whole life I dreamed of having a good education but I had a lot of financial obstacles to stay in school. I dropped out from high school in Kenya because I couldn’t pay my school fees.
When I had the chance to come to the United States, I decided to go back to school. I found out about the adult basic education program whereby I earned a High school equivalency certificate. I found a job as an Instructional Aid at the Community College District.
Adult basic education made me realize how much I can do with my life and it showed me how I can accomplish my dreams. Because of the good preparation I received, I’m going to college to become a Childcare Eligibility Specialist, and pursue a degree to become a Humanitarian Aid Worker.
