Benefits of San Diego Continuing Education Learning Communities

Learning Communities Connect Students

San Diego Gateway to College and Career (SDG2CC) supports the community by building pathways for disconnected youth ages 18-24 to earn a high school diploma or high school equivalency while R2S PATHWAYS, a retention model learning community program, creates educational communities that provide intensive support and services guiding students ages 25 and older on their pathway to completion, career, and/or transition to college

Learning Communities Set Goals and Measure Progress

Both SDG2CC and R2SPATHWAYS connects students to employment and internship opportunities; an Apprenticeship Readiness Program, and support to transition to college.

Learning Communities Provide Shared Learning

SDG2CC and R2S PATHWAYS provide opportunities for students to work in a cohort model in which they can learn and support each other. Each program connects students to the community to ensure they are college prepared and career ready.

Learning Communities Provide Wraparound Services and Support

SDG2CC and R2S PATHWAYS provide students enrolled in the program with intensive services aimed toward helping them succeed. Students in the program can receive assistance with textbooks, school supplies, education costs, class materials, transportation assistance, career services (job search and placement) and dedicated case managers to provide support along their educational journey.

Learning Communities Help Students Set Achievable and Measurable Goals

SDG2CC and R2S PATHWAYS students are encouraged to complete a high school diploma (HSD) or high school equivalency (HSE) in a college-based program while simultaneously earning college-level skills that lead to postsecondary certificates while also focusing on the student’s journey and breaking down barriers to completion by empowering students to drive their success and possibilities for achieving self-sufficiency and reaching their education and career goals.

SDCE SDG2CC and R2S PATHWAYS Learning communities are a way for students to create collaborative partnerships between the faculty, staff as they strive to meet their educational and career goals.
