from the office of Dr. King
February 20, 2024

Dear SDCCE Community,

I hope you had a restful four-day president's weekend. Due to the recent flooding caused by the January 22nd rainfall, all carpet in the Educational Cultural Complex foyer has been removed. Abatement continues in the main building. C building walls were opened to dry out and remove the moisture. Testing was done to retest the area for appropriate levels. The ECC foyer remains fully blocked off to ensure everyone's safety, students are being redirected to Student Services at B-101, where they can also access Calworks, DSPS, Parking Services, and Outreach.

Amidst the current and upcoming rainfall, all seven SDCCE campuses will remain in session and open. As we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and employees, our emergency response team is monitoring the weather and will provide timely updates as the circumstances evolve. Please stay tuned for further communications through email, the college website, and our official social media channels. We encourage you to follow local news updates for the latest information on the weather conditions and evacuation procedures.

Furthermore, filming for the upcoming WASC Accreditation has been completed by our Communications and Creative Services team. Thank you to our Deans, College Operations Supervisor's, and staff for going above and beyond in highlighting your campuses, academic areas, and student resources. Thank you Dr. Minou Spradley, Dean Jessica Luedtke, Deborah King, and Margaret Posner for spearheading accreditation efforts college-wide.
