Remodels are underway at SDCCE! I am happy to report our tutoring center student spaces have been installed at the Educational Cultural Complex. Faculty work stations, a check-in and work station, and technology upgrades are in process. In alignment with our fairly new student lounge, the tutoring center will give students another welcoming option in between classes to be in community and to prepare for their studies. Additionally, SDCCE’s Educational Cultural Complex consultant, HGA, submitted the theater remodel project to DSA on May 17th. We will be providing more updates as we get ready for our 110-year anniversary celebration this fall. Stay tuned for more information!

Reminder, SDCCE counselors are hosting New Student Workshops for prospective and current students to support with all academic areas and resources ahead of summer session.

SDCCE's Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) team finished this year's project focused on the student-centered enrollment process integrating instruction and student services to continue in the development and planning of enrollment processes and policies to streamline and centralize enrollment further supporting increased access and successful enrollments. Enrollment following the implementation of the new application tool, CCCApply, and aligning the student management system by student group and major has not been impacted and has continued to increase. This work will continue with streamlining ESL and DSPS in Fall of 2024 for the Spring of 2025 enrollment.

SDCCE completed the first iteration of the Faculty Equity Institute, part of the Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Practices (CRPP) Grant from the California Community Colleges. The Office of Planning, Research, and Institutional Effectiveness (PRIE) extends heartfelt thanks to the 10 faculty members who participated in our first cohort, engaging in data-informed and courageous conversations about Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Anti-racism, and Accessibility. Special recognition goes to Denise Muñoz, Finnley Armacost, and Juan Salcedo for leading this critical initiative. The CRPP grant work will continue throughout 2024/25, including featuring a second iteration of the Faculty Equity Institute. Stay tuned for more updates on this impactful work!

Back at her home campus at Mid-City, Adriana led countless cultural events from Arabic Heritage Month to Women's History Month and supported students in the Welcome Center. Thank you Adriana!
