Dear SDCCE Community,

As you learned during Fall Convocation, my team has been working diligently to create and launch a 'You Belong Employees' web page with the support of R&D Facilitators. You Belong Employees is aimed at further boosting communication and building a stronger sense of camaraderie here at the San Diego College of Continuing Education. Belonging is vital to performance, innovation and retention, and starts with executive leadership commitment. On the web page, you will find our college's Culture Principals, the R&D Facilitation timeline, and professional development opportunities.

I am proud to announce the web page is now live. Please take a moment to review the You Belong Employees web page.

Community Health & STEM Fest

Black Tech Link hosted its Annual Community Health & STEM Fest at the Educational Cultural Complex on Saturday September 16. The family friendly event included a career fair, a fitness clinic, youth activities, health screenings and vaccinations, community workshops, a food truck fair, community organization and a small business expo. This event provides services to the community focused on health and wealth. Well-done to everyone involved to create a successful event!

SDCCE and MTS are working together to add the “painted crosswalk and/or warning lights” to the bus stop in front of ECC to support our deaf/blind students as advocated for by DSPS faculty. The bus stop is the MTS Westbound stop on Ocean View Blvd / Marketplace Ave. A bench was installed on September 13 at the MTS Ocean View Blvd. and Elizabeth St. stop.

The remodeled professional development space in room 46 at ECC is nearing completion. The remodeled space will feature new flooring and a better furniture set up for employees.

SDCCD and SDCCE IT successfully supported West City Campus with resolving Computer HyFlex Technology Issues; two classrooms are now functioning correctly with HyFlex programs.

Hispanic Outlook featured our college and my presidency this September in an article titled, Dr. Tina M King: Giving Back to Students Like Her. Thank you Hispanic Outlook!

I enjoyed being a panelist for the Black To School: A conversation on Student Success” event hosted by the San Diego Chapter of the Black American Political Association of California (BAPAC SD) at the Educational Cultural Complex. BAPAC SD is a visionary movement that works to ensure the Black community in San Diego County remains a relevant economic, social, and political force in Southern California.

My team and I enjoyed attending the Chicanx/Latinx Educator Network at City College, it was an honor to be a featured panelist alongside inspiring Chicanx/Latinx Educators.

The Research Corner

This week, we invite you to check out a resource developed by our partners from the District’s Institutional Effectiveness and Research Office, the SDCCE Enrollment Management Dashboard. This data product contains relevant information for enrollment management trends, including data for enrollment, fill rates, and FTES. Take a minute to review this resource and email if you have any questions.
