Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Dear SDCCE Community,

Faculty Appreciation Day groupLast Friday, our college held its 2023 Faculty Appreciation Day at the Educational Cultural Complex. I was overwhelmed with joy in celebrating the profound accomplishments of SDCCE's esteemed faculty. Our Olympic-themed event titled “Our Faculty Hold the Gold” fit perfectly for our college. Thank you again to our faculty for all you do, your grit and dedication to support our students toward the finish line shines through. View Faculty Appreciation Day photos here.

Next up, I look forward to celebrating our distinguished Classified employees on May 18 during the STAR Conference and the Classified Service Awards.

Lastly, I am pleased to share an op-ed coauthored by myself and Kim Desmond, City of San Diego Chief Race and Equity Officer, for San Diego Voice and Viewpoint. Chief Officer Desmond and I discuss the critical role the Educational Cultural Complex plays in Southeastern San Diego and across the county as well as city partnerships. Read the article here.

The Research Corner

This week, we invite you to check out an infographic developed by our Santa Rosa Jr. College partners, using results from the 2022 Career & Technical Education Employment Outcomes Survey (CTEOS). The CTEO survey is administered to CE alumni to learn their perceptions about our CTE programs and their employment outcomes after receiving education in our institution. This infographic contains summary highlights from the 2022 CTEO survey for SDCCE. Take a minute to review this resource and email if you have any questions.

Lastly, we would like to remind you that the 2023 SDCCE Employee Cultural Climate Survey closes today! This survey includes questions about your work and overall experiences as a CE employee. If you have not done it, please take a couple of minutes to complete this survey (all responses will be anonymous). The results from this project will be used to understand and improve the cultural and campus climate at the institution. Participants will have an opportunity to win one of four $25 VISA gift cards.
